    You didn't have to shut off the power to. The camper, there are breakers and fuses for the ac you could have shut off to kill just the ac circuit.

    Thanks for the video getting ready to add a front ac to my cougar as well. I did want to mention to you. It will help the volume even more And most of all, quiet, the AC. Look here and UA-cam for R V AC dverter. Very easy to do and well worth it like I said. Adds the volume and quiets the unit.

    I recently bought a 600 watt solar system. I have removed to battery from the front of my camper. I used 4 100 Ah batteries to charge my rv. Do I need to but a switch to turn off the the CONverter charging my "battery" even though I have removed it?

    Solar panels --> charge controller --> battery bank --> inverter --> shore power plug. Easiest way to install solar. I want to know which inverters allow you to wire a 30 amp plug and how. Either having extra wire connections on the back or using two 15 amp plugs off the front. Good luck to me.

    Hi thanks for this. Exactly what I was looking for. I already have one of those main shutoff switch but I also have a breaker that's named converter that isn't part of the main. How do I know if I've flipped that one off if I'm in that "loop" you mention. Thanks again!

    Great video! Question from a newbie if you don't mind. I have a 1967 camper that is so basic the only things equipped with ac power are three outlet jacks and three light sockets. That's it, no fridge or pumps or anything at all. No breaker box. There is no system to hook up to power at all other than shore power socket outside the camper. When I plug into shore power it all works as it should. I want to boondock so I built a solar battery generator with two batteries, 1000watt inverter, solar charge controller and all the necessary inline fuse and low voltage cutoff switch. All that said, in theory, I can just run an extension cord from the shore power outlet to my inverter as long as I don't try to plug in any devices bigger than what my inverter can handle, correct? My apologies if this seems like an obvious question.

    There is a lot going on here in terms of wires. Were all the wires that are required to operate with the iN·command there? I was under the impression only power is there. Any instructions with it all that assisted in any way? Or did you go completely off of the rear ac install?

    • @modchipman67
      @modchipman67 3 роки тому

      There will be a 120v power, 12 volt power, the communication wire from the rear air all in that box. The rest of the wires come in a harness with the relay control and gateway. It’s actually simpler than you think. Just take your time and read the labels on the wires.

    Hi Andy, thanks for the video. How did you wire the outlets inside the RV?

    • @EarlBalentine
      @EarlBalentine 2 роки тому

      I'm think that with the converter connected to the batteries that all you do was to take your power cable from the trailer that mostly likely has a 30amp plug to be converted to a 110v/15amp adapter, then plug that into the converter outlet. All the device would feed off the trailers power cord as if it was plugged into shore power. Depending on the size of the converter will determine wha the converter can handle. Of course the more load will deplete the batteries really fast. A/C would kill the batteries the fastest. Your fridge and water heater would run on propane.

    2200 peak watts translates into 183 amps at 12 volts DC. Factoring in inverter efficiency losses (15%) you're looking at 210 amps. Your breaker is undersized even at non-peak.

  • @scottleggejr
    @scottleggejr 4 роки тому

    I'm pretty sure your converter isn't charging batteries, but is probably still running 12V accessories from 120V unless you kill it. This is only like 80-90% efficient compared to 100% on direct DC from the batteries. This is how my RV works, but I have a contactor which kills 120V to the converter when the inverter is on and a 120V circuit breaker on mine.
